Observation on Teacher(s) in The Classroom

  • Their Planning For Teaching




After observing the class about one week, I saw teacher's teaching plan very systematic. Starting from the first day that explains the learning material, then the second day of the joint discussion, and so on until the learning topic ends with a quiz. The teacher also always brings learning support materials such as colored paper then writes down the problems that will be discussed together on the paper. Then the paper is affixed to the board on the board. Not only that, most important thing is readiness in teaching, mental readiness, mind and also learning materials and tools must be carefully planned and prepared. and I saw it all at my cooperative teacher. Yupss,,, The good teacher must always prepare things to be brought into class, including stationery.

Learning Material : Direct Variation

1st Meeting :
Explain the learnng material

2nd and 3rd Meeting:
»short discussion on relationships of variables/ quantities using the activities given
»provide the formula for the different types of variation

Activity No.3: Write Me Directly (I-R-F)
» ask the students to answer the activity individually in a whole sheet of paper, consider their answers initial
» afterwards, ask the students to look for a partner to revise their answers using the steps presented
give a short discussion on how to make variation statements and equations of the given
» ask the students to correct their work and write their final answers.
» checking and discussion of answers follows

4th Meeting
» provide sample word problems
» by learning cell, ask the students to answer the given problems
» call representatives to show their answers on the board

 Activity No.4: Word Problems (Direct Variation)
1.   A dishwasher uses 65 gallons of water to wash 5 loads of dishes. How many gallons of water would be used to wash 12 loads?
2.   Eduardo counted ten seconds between seeing lightning and hearing thunder, and he knew that the lightning was about 2 miles away. If he counted four seconds between the next flash of lightning and thunder, about how far away was the lightning?
3.   At top speed, a rabbit can cover 7 miles in 12 minutes. If a rabbit could continue at this rate indefinitely, how long would it take the rabbit to cross the 220-mile expanse of the Mojave Desert?

» using the given problems, ask the students to discuss within their groups how to translate/ solve problems given table of values, graph and mathematical equation
» give a  follow- up discussion

5th Meeting( Quiz)

  • Their Preparing Lessons and Materials


Before entering class to teach, my cooperative teacher always delivered the material she would present today as well as the following days. So I can learn and develop these learning materials in my leisure time or in the classroom when the learning process is ongoing. But, I always see her carrying a summary sheet of material and small paper that contains many questions. I rarely see it carrying a very thick learning book or something. Hehehe... I guess, she has mastered the material to be taught that day. Yeah she already prepared for that.

But I was curious and then asked her. "Is there no 9th grade math handbook?" more or less my question like that. Then she said that each student already has a guidebook, including my cooperative teacher. So she only brought a summary of the material and discussed it in class. But she already prepared what problem that students have to discuss.  

  • Their Teaching in Class?




What I did as long as the teacher explains the material is just to pay attention and pay attention and pay attention. Hehehhe. Well ... The question that I always think about is "how can she teach like that? Can I? Why does she do it so well and with a clear and clear voice?" It is true, that teaching experiences will make us better at teaching if we continue to train ourselves. wahhh ....

She can manage the class very well. And can handle problem problems in class. Oh yeah, I almost forgot the important thing. When the teacher is explaining the material, then the students raises their hand and asks, the teacher will not invite them as long as what she wants to convey has been completed. I also learned from her. Well ... that is a very important thing in teaching. Finish what we want to say, then invite them to ask questions.

But, the most important thing in her learning process is focusing on learning material. She explains the material well and communicatively to students. The process of discussion and question and answer is also very good in the classroom. well, good teachers have did know how to communicate well. Sometimes when students feel sleepy, the teacher gives a few jokes that can revive their enthusiasm.


  • Their Measurement and evaluation?




There is always evaluation at the end of the lessons. And I think that's good system. Well, it will better for their memories of the lessons. Usually students often quickly forget the material taught if the teacher evaluates in each semester. So that it will be very difficult for them by learning to recall the previous subject matter. However, if teachers always evaluate their knowledge on each material, they will not be too difficult in doing evaluations in each semester.

  • Your Overall Impression to The Teacher Performances?

The teaching performances of everyone is different. Some teach firmly, pleasantly, and so on. Of course everyone wants a lively and pleasant class atmosphere. But it cannot be denied that sometimes students are silent and do not want to participate in the learning process. So that it becomes a challenge for every teacher.



But, I saw how the teaching performances of my cooperative teacher is very good. She can manage the class well and handle existing problems, such as students who do not understand, sleepy class atmosphere, noise, and so on. How to explain material is also very good and very communicative. She knows when we become teachers, parents, and also friends for students. This is the lesson in teaching, heheheh....
