Our Journey in Cebu City, Philippines

First, thanks for join here. Because "what the meaning of blog if there is no reader". Hehehe...

Yupsss, I hope you enjoy my blog ...

Okayy... Let's start!

  • The First Tour

Saturday, January 12 was the first day of our tour. This is also my second day in Cebu City.
"Heyyy, what clothes do you want to wear?", "we have to prepare our extra chlotes, because we want to go to the beach", "ok, I will wear this shirt and bring this shirt" and blah blah blah .... That is something the things we talked about about the tour tomorrow.

Hmmm ... There is a funny incident that I want to tell you on that day ... hahhahaa.

Okay, at 7 in the morning the girls team arrived at USJR. We didn't go with the boys team because they haven't finished preparing. So, we leave first.

A few minutes waiting, our tour guide arrived. but the boys team haven't arrived yet. "Do you bring extra clothes?" ... "Yessss siiirrrr" my friends are very excited.

Okayyy to the point ...
8 o'clock in the morning we leave ...
And apparently ...
Our first trip was to the mountain, hahahaha ....
But no ... We still think maybe the next tour is to the beach. So, we really enjoyed the atmosphere on the mountain. The name of the tour is "Sirao Garden - Little Amsterdam". The beautiful place with the beautiful view....

Yeayyy... let's go to the second place...
After Sirao Garden-Little Amsterdam, we continued the trip to the next place. "Yeayyy ... We're going to the beach" ... Hahahhaha ... My friends still think we're going to the beach.
And ... not the beach ... Hahahah
Did they still expect the beach after this?
Yeah of course. Hahha ...
"Maybe the last place is the beach, just wait for a while," they said.

Okay, let's talk about "Temple of Leah". There, we can see the beautiful scenery of the city of Cebu. Being at a height and seeing buildings and the ocean are the most soothing things. Very relaxed.

Temple of Leah, dubbed as “Cebu’s Taj Mahal,” is a grand gesture of love from a husband to his late wife. But unlike the Taj Mahal, which is a mausoleum, Temple of Leah is a shrine holding the memory and treasures of Leah Albino-Adarna, the late wife of Teodorico Soriano Adarna. The two are grandparents of actress Ellen Adarna.

Still in the temple, the next place is "Philippine Taoist Temple". This is a tour of Chinese in Cebu City. Philippine Taoist Temple is a Taoist temple located in Beverly Hills Subdivision of Cebu City, Philippines. The temple is built by Cebu's substantial Chinese community in 1972. With an elevation of 110 metres (360 ft) above sea level, the temple is a towering, multi-tiered, multi-hued attraction accessible by three separate winding routes.

Well, this is the last place.
Is that the beach?
And apparently... no. Hahahhaha...
So, how about our extra chlotes? ha ha ha
Hmmm ... What can we do, the next place is not the beach, but "Fort San Pedro". But, it doesn't matter... We still enjoyed our touring...
Fort San Pedro is a military defense structure in Cebu City, built by the Spanish under the command of  Miguel López de Legazpi, first governor of the Captaincy General of the Philippines. It is located in the area now called Plaza Indepedencia, in the pier area of the city. The original fort was made of wood and built after the arrival of Legazpi and his expedition. In the early 17th century a stone fort was built to repel Muslim raiders. Today's structure dates from 1738 and is the oldest triangular bastion fort in the country. It served as the nucleus of the first Spanish settlement in the Philippines. During the Philippine Revolution at the end of the 19th century, it was attacked and taken by Filipino revolutionaries, who used it as a stronghold.

  • Sinulog Celebration

Saturday, January 19, it became our second tour day. but because January 20 was the same day as the celebration of the Cebu community, the second tour was held on January 26. Well, the celebration was known as "Sinulog".

The Sinulog-Santo Niño Festival is an annual cultural and religious held on third festival Sunday of January in Cebu City, and is the center of the Santo Niño Catholic celebrations in the Philippines. The festival is considered to be the first of the most popular festivals in the Philippines, with every celebration of the festival routinely attracting around 1 to 2 million people from all over the Philippines every year. Aside from the religious aspects of the festival, Sinulog is also famous for its street parties, usually the night before and the night of the main festival.

Because the third week of January is Jan 20, so my friends and I decided to watch that celebration.

"Hmmm the center of the Sinulog Celebrations tomorrow at the Ayala Mall"... "we have to go all"... "okay, we'll go". More or less like that was our conversation, sea teacher participant batch 7 at USJR, Cebu City.

Okaayyyy ... The next day we went together there. We always use traditional transportation there which is known as jeepney. But, because the Ayala Mall is too far away, we decided to go to SM Seaside. hahahah ....
This is not something what we planned.

But, after walking there and buying something, we found some people were watching the sinulog dance at SM Seaside ... well, we also joint to watched, heheheh ....
Not only the Sinulog dance, we also watched the I Love Cebu dance . And we enjoyed it.

  • The Second Tour
This is the time.
After my friends and I brought extra chlotes on tour day 1, finally we really brought it back on this second tour. Hmmm ... well, we went to the waterfall and the beach.

The first place we visited was the waterfall, "Kawasan Fall"
"Be ready at 05.00 am" we got a message from our tour guide.

Okaayyyy ... When we were still getting ready, our buddies came to pick us up. and we went together to campus. Before going to Kawasan Fall, one of our tour guides provides us for take a breakfast first at Jollibee. and after that we continued the journey.

Hmmm, it is appropriate for our tour guide to tell us to get ready at 5:00 am, it turns out it's a very long trip.

But, until there ... the waterfall is really blue and clean. Not only Philippines ... we see many people from other countries such as Korea, Japan, China and other countries.

After Kawasan Fall, the next place is the Lambug beach. There, we take a lunch together before sightseeing and some of my friends took pictures. Well, we also eaten together in the Kawasan Fall. Our tour guide cooks for us. They are very kind.
Yeaayyyyy ....

  • The Last Tour
Finally, it doesn't feel that soon we will leave the Philippines, especially Cebu City and USJR. This is our last tour trip. Well, we have to buy something to take home to Indonesia. so our trip this time was "Pasalubong". Pasalubong is the Filipino gifts from their destination to people back home. Pasalubong can be any gift or souvenir brought for family or friends after being away for a period of time. It can be given by someone arriving from a distant place.

Okkay... The first place we visited was "The Basilica Minore del Santo Niño" . The Basilica Minore del Santo Niño is commonly known as the Santo Niño Basilica, is a minor basilica in Cebu City in the Philippines that was founded in 1565 by Fray Andrés de Urdaneta, O.S.A. and Fray Diego de Herrera, O.S.A .. The oldest Roman Catholic church in the country, it is built on the spot where the image of the Santo Niño de Cúbú was found during the expedition of Miguel López de Legazpi. The icon, a statuette of the Child Jesus, is the same one presented by Ferdinand Magellan to the chief consort of Rajah Humabon upon the royal couple's christening on April 14, 1521. It was found by a soldier named Juan de Camuz forty years later, preserved in a wooden box, after having razed a local village. When Pope Paul VI was made the church a basilica in 1965, he declared it to be "the symbol of the birth and growth of Christianity in the Philippines.

After that, my friends and I decided to go to Pasalubong to "SM Seaside", the biggest mall in Cebu City. Long enough there, we bought some souvenirs of cebu city and took a walk also bought black pearl together. Hehehehe.... That was very fun.

When it was getting dark, we went to "Ayala Mall" for a dinner with the dean of college, our coordinator, and buddie. Hmmm, well ... of course with our two tour guides as well and our tour driver ... very pleasant. We also sang together, and it brought a sad atmosphere to us, sea teacher batch 7 participant in USJR. I still remember the song we sang was a song from Adelle - All I Ask.

Thank You Seameo...
We're Prour Being Indonesian...
And We Love Philippines...

Okayyy... Thank You.
